Justin Bieber has officially lost custody of his pet monkey.
The animal was seized by German customs on March 28 when the singer tried to take it into the country on his private jet without the correct paperwork.
He had been given until midnight on Friday (May 17) to produce the documents and retrieve his pet.
However, customs spokesman Thomas Meister confirmed that Bieber failed to act, meaning the authorities will transfer ownership of the animal to the German state today.
Bieber will have six weeks to contest the decision, but his minders had previously indicated that they wanted the monkey to be rehomed.
The pet had been staying at an animal shelter but has since been moved to quarantine.
